Ciao Milano

On one of my previous posts I already talked about my (not so recent) trip to Milano to celebrate my birthday. Being sincere, it is not one of my favorite cities (my boyfriend didn't really like it) but that doesn't mean we didn't enjoy it at its best. We loved getting lost around little streets, staring at the best fashion stores, drinking (that I have to admit) the best cappuccinos of our lifes, and learning about amazing concepts as ''il aperitivo''. Needless to talk about the majestic Duomo and the italian's restaurants charm.

One of the things I like the most about traveling is discovering beautiful places, charming cafeterias and others alike. Luckily enough, Barcelona is one of the cities that has a lot of hidden gems that fulfills my wanderlust when I don't have money or time to go abroad.

Two weekends ago I went for the first time to a bookstore-cafeteria called +Bernat. There, surrounded by books and sipping a delicious cappuccino I concentrated on uni readings while being in a beautiful place all at once.

For those of you who are in the city, I recommend you +Bernat to go with friends just to chat, to study, get lost going through its shelves full of interesting books or simply to relax in a good surrounding.

Birthday girl

It was my birthday on Friday (21!) and I can definitely say it was one of my bests so far. How did I spend it? In Milano, with a wonderful person, eating lots of pasta, drinking amazing cappuccinos and just relaxing à la italiana. There's more celebration to come, and I can't wait, but meanwhile I'll leave you with a little sneak-peak.

The good things in life

One of the things that I enjoy the most is, for sure, eating, and by derivation, cooking. But I have to admit it, whenever I enter the kitchen, it is more likely that I will be baking other than cooking anything close to healthy. This fact, however, has been changing, as after spending time in the US when coming back I felt the need to transition towards lighter food. Hence, I started checking recipes, one of my favourite ones being "Broiled Eggplant with Provolone and Tomato Vinaigrette".

This recipe is truly easy, and I followed the directions here with some adjustments (I used modena vinegar and passed the capers).

After an amazing month in New York and Florida, I came back to Barcelona on the 13th of August (thanks American Airlines for all of the delays I had to deal with...). So far the days here have been quiet and relaxing, spending time with the loved ones that I hadn't seen in a long time, and dealing with the heat of the City. 

One of the best things in Barcelona in August are the festivities of the Gràcia neighborhood. My favourite part of it all? Visiting the streets that the neighbors have thematically decorated to win the competition that takes place every summer in Gràcia.
